Top 5 in the News – April 2014

 

Music therapy is one of the fastest growing therapeutic initiatives in healthcare. But, like many charitable and non-profit organizations, music therapy initiatives often rely on grand funding and donations for support of advocacy, research and activities. Here are the Top 5 stories In The News for April 2014 focusing on fundraising and scholarships for music therapy.

Vancouver Craft Beer Week is Coming Back Atcha
The VCBW is host to BC’s largest celebration of beer, spanning nine days.  Each year, there is a collaboration beer, the result of at least two brewmasters working together to create an annual charity beer. The proceeds from this year’s collaboration beer will support Music Heals.

Jeffrey Frank Wacks Music Therapy Program
Together the Live Strong Foundation and Morristown Medical Center are offering 13 $15,600 grants to U.S. clinical music therapy service providers.

The Fran Herman Scholarship
The newly created scholarship fund helps support Canadian music therapy students with their education. The Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund awards up to three awards of $1,500 to students who exemplify leadership, innovation, creativity, and dedication to the field of music therapy.

CSU Hosts Fundraiser at Avogadros Number
Colorado State University is a leader in music therapy (clinical) education and research. To support its pioneering music therapy program, students hosted a fundraiser with lives performances and a silent auction.

4th Annual Finn Fest Supports Joe Finn Music Therapy Program at Monmouth Medical Center
As a tribute to a cancer patient, this annual event celebrates a lost life while bringing awareness to how music therapy relieves symptoms of cancer.
